Peter solo at the Piano
Taken directly from the “Live from Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center” CD, here is Franz Schubert’s Impromtpu in E-flat major. From this same recording which was broadcast live on Chicago TV station Channel 25 and Classical Radio WFMT is, Frederik Chopin’s Scherzo in B-flat minor. This recital was given as part of the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Series; more information on this series is available on the International Music Foundation website. And finally something on a lighter note, the well known jazz standard, All of Me, a Simone and Parks composition.

Peter writes a Tune
This first sample, entitled Flucht, comes from the score Peter wrote for a short sci-fi film. Moving on, the following composition is based on a Minimalist composing style with a rather melancholic gypsy like feel to it. Finally, Mark, is the theme song for one of Theater 1000 Hertz newest productions, “Die Narbe” (The Scar). This theater piece directed by Crystina Vayhinger has already made well received appearances at the Orangerie and the Theater am Sachsenring in Cologne, Germany. Peter is continually active in composition and is open to commissions for film, theater and diverse media!

Die Seeräuber Jenny – an evening for Lotte Lenya
with Christina Vayhinger (actress, singer) and Peter Land (pianist)
“Crystina Vayhinger doesn’t play Lotte Lenya, she is Lenya; you have to hear and see it to believe it.” Kölner Stadt Anzeiger 4/02. This piece recounts the life of Lenya through an exciting musical chronology including extracts from Kurt Weill’s Mahagonny, Die Dreigroshenoper (Threepenny Opera or The Beggar's Opera), the Eternal Road and The Firebrand of Florence. During the 2005/6 season, Christina and Peter have had many performances including bookings at the Katie Kollwitz Museam, Theater am Sachsenring, Café Goldmund, KulturKontor, and the Gustav Heinemann Haus.

El Vito – Popular Songs from Spain
with Rafael Montero (tenor) and Peter Land (piano)
Rafael and Peter have now been working together more than a year with their passion for Spanish music. Rafael, who speaks seven languages was born raised and in Jujuy, Argentina and studied with Teresa Landín at the Concervatorio Nacional de Cordova, Argentina. Mrs. Landín, herself a widely recorded and internationally experienced soprano has said “Rafael has a gentle voice ideal for chamber music and classical opera.” Rafael’s engagements as a singer here in Europe include the Institut Français in Cologne, Schloss Burgau in Duren and the Oudheidkundig Museum in Eindhoven, Holland. Peter who’s mother Marietta, was born in Arequipa, Peru, speaks Spanish and holds this repertoire close to his heart. Among their duo repertoire is music by Manuel De Falla, Garcia Lorca (he wrote the music as well as the text) Carlos Guastavino, Eduardo Caba and Fernando Obradors. As a taster, here is a sweet love song called la Rosa y el Sauce written by Guastavino and an exciting Spanish folktune, entitled El Vito, transcribed by Obradors.
